This page is mainly for the members, but we keep it public for reference and to help others who want to start something similar. The content here is not ordered in any particular way, or given any priority.
Image size:
The maximum dimension is 820 x 820 pixels. Anything bigger breaks the layout. Try to keep the file size at a manageable level (below 200k-300k).
Print discussion:
All of the prints that participate in an exchange should be published on this blog.
Most of the discussion should be held public by writing comments to the post where the picture is published.
Feel free to switch to email if you want to bring up a controversial subject, and you are uncertain of the reaction of the other members. It is easy to bring the discussion out in public later, but it is impossible to undo what is already public.
In order to to make the discussions more clear, it can be helpful to copy the published web photos and make markings to point to certain features you want to comment. The members are encouraged to allow this wit their own pictures, but also to treat the pictures of a fellow member with respect. Making a red circle or an arrow to point out what you are discussing is ok, reprocessing should only be done after an agreement.
Preparing the print:
First of all, keep them at a reasonable size (A4/Letter/8×10in/20×25cm). Not only is it less expensive to ship, but is also manageable for the receiver to store and handle.
Mark the prints on the back with title and name. It don’t have to qualify as a signature, only for identification. Other information is also welcome. A suggestion is:
- Title
- Name of photographer
- Capture date
- Print date
- Paper and print technology
Use a pencil, and write with a light hand along the border so the text wont show through the picture.
Do give each other feedback on how the different prints came through the mail. It can be valuable to learn how to pack and ship them properly to avoid damage.
